And the Winner Is…

Orlando Magazine Dining Awards

After conducting and extensive online survey, Orlando Magazine has released its 2013 Dining Awards, a compilation of readers’ choices in a whopping 61 different categories.  The list covers Central Florida dining by locale, from best hotel restaurant to neighborhood hot spots, as well as food by cuisine.  It is no surprise that Park Avenue area restaurants garnered several top spots.

In the coveted Best New Restaurant category, Prato was ranked second overall.  Known for their fresh approach to Italian cuisine, including wood-oven pizzas and a killer meatball, Prato is quickly becoming a staple in the Park Avenue dining scene.  The restaurant also earned top honors in the Best Italian, and a respectable second in the Best Pizza categories.

Luma on Park serves up upscale American cuisine.

Prato’s sister restaurant, Luma on Park, was mentioned multiple times.  Led by Chef Brandon McGlamery, the team serves upscale American cuisine highlighting local ingredients paired with an extensive wine list.  Readers rated them in categories, including Best Service, Chef, Wine List, Chef’s Table, Cocktails and the place to go for Celebrity Citings…especially when Sir Paul McCartney is in town.

Park Avenue is also known for its variety of international cuisine.  Hungry for French? Café de France has offered diners fine continental cuisine since 1982.  Lunch and dinner service is offered Tuesday – Saturday.  For the second time, Cocina 214 was recognized as Best Mexican/ Tex Mex. The owners brought the food they loved to Winter Park from Dallas, Texas, so you know its authentic.   And, for the third time, readers recognized Bosphorous as Best Middle Eastern restaurant.  This Turkish eatery is known for its lavas bread, lamb, and humus.

And don’t forget the drinks… One of the Best Happy Hours in town is at Cocina 214, where the margaritas are refreshing.  And for a wine bar, tied for first in the survey, The Wine Room and Eola Wine Company are fine places to stop in for a glass and tapas.  Be sure to grab a table on the sidewalk and enjoy the view of Central Park.
